Having started the diet today, this very morning, I was a bit anxious really. I have never tried a proper ‘diet’ before. I don’t know if I will have the will power to see it through or whether it will even work on me?

PROTEIN

is the word on my lips.

I don’t know if many of you will have heard of the Dukan diet? I have only just found out myself. So I bought a copy of the book from Amazon at discount – I thought, ‘well, it’s only £4.99, not too much to spend if it’s a waste of time’

It is in the news at the moment as Kate Middleton is reported to have undertaken the diet for the wedding, with great success.

Basically it is a high protein diet with vegetables and oat bran, but it is of course much, much more complicated and involved than that!

What seems to be most important is the longer term management for permanent weight loss, which Dukan seems to know an extraordinary amount about. He has over 30 years as a diet doc and is a doctor.

I am going to give it a try

  1. Well, the end of day one.
    I have eaten nothing but animal protein and yoghurt with some spices. I had the oat bran this evening mixed with yoghurt and it was very palatable.

    I do not feel hungry at all but I did feel quite tired and a bit queasy this afternoon.
    It’s good to be able to have skimmed milk as I love tea.
    I am not sad to give up alcohol as I don’t drink anyway!

    Over and out for day 1!
